Meet Josie: Perfection? Perhaps!
Perfection is not attainable, but if it was, my foster mom would say "I am it!" She says I am like a Chef's Kiss because I am such a good girl!
A Little About Josie:
Hi! My name is Josie. I am a four-year-old bullmastiff, who is update-to-date on my vaccines, potty-trained, spayed, microchipped, and fairly perfect. I was an owner surrender to BRI because my previous owners were aging, and they did not feel they could meet my energy needs. According to my foster mom, I can be a bit spunky. I sometimes like to race in and out of the dog door to the backyard, or I have been known to do a good zoomie in the house. I go on a 20-30 minute walk every day, and I love it! I let my foster mom know when it’s about time; I really like my walk routine. I had not really walked on a leash before, so I am still learning not to pull, when I find a good sniff spot. Once I get a little energy out, I will trot right alongside you. I like spending some time in the backyard and sun-bathing.
Personality and Preferences:
If you asked me what was my favorite thing to do, I would say, spend time with you! I really enjoy being with my people and tend to follow my foster mom around the house throughout the day. I let her know if someone is out in the front yard, and I take my joy of sniffing her delivery packages for safety seriously. I have a mellow foster brother, who is bigger than me. I am petite bullmastiff at only 97lbs. I enjoy spending time with him. I try to get him to play but he’s older and a lazy daisy. My foster mom thinks that I would really enjoy having a large male dog at my new home. I also liked spending time with my previous owner's grandchildren and have some experience with outdoor cats in my previous home too.
You may be wondering why my foster mom says I am pretty close to perfect. I am well-mannered; I listen well. I am able to have free roam of my foster’s mom’s home, and I have not picked up one item that didn’t belong to me, or gotten into anything. I have been a fabulous house companion. I was never really taught to jump when I was younger, so I do not try to jump at all. When I go bye-bye, which I like to do, I need a lift into the vehicle. I enjoy my dog bed in the living room, and I do not get on the furniture. I've never had people foos, so I have no interest when you’re eating. I do love my breakfast and dinner time though; I like to give my foster mom an excited jump, twirl at mealtimes. I also love to lay on her feet or cuddle her for pets.
Ideal Home:
My ideal home would be with an active family that has children that are eight or older. I can be quick on my bullmastiff toes, especially when I get excited, and wouldn't want to accidentally knock down a smaller child. I would love to have a large male companion that liked to play. My family would ideally take me on a 20-30 minute walk every day and would have a fenced in backyard for me to run around I have been known to give a squirrel a chase, but I only watch them when I am on a leash. If you’re looking for as close to perfect as you can get, and you would like to provide the home I deserve, click the "Adopt Me" button above and please complete an adoption application. You can complete an online version or download the application in Word.
We require a donation ranging from $100 to $600 for each adoption. The donation is based on the age and health of the dog being adopted as well as its level of training. 100% of donations are directed to the veterinary expenses of the dogs in our care.
Josie is being fostered in Indiana; however, don’t let location be a barrier, BRI can arrange transport to many states east of the Mississippi!
