Latisha
Bullmastiff - Maryland
PLEASE READ THE COMPLETE BIO AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION (available here under Forms to Download) BEFORE CONTACTING US.
WE DO NOT RESPOND TO INQUIRIES UNTIL WE HAVE RECEIVED AN APPLICATION.
Latisha came to us after spending her life as a puppy mill dog used to generate money. She
never knew about sleeping in a house on a nice dog bed or sofa. She never knew what it is like
to be cherished part of the family. But she does now. She has been doted on and loved by her
foster family and she is ready for her forever home.
Latisha is a very sweet girl, the true definition of a Velcro dog. She adores a close cuddle on the
couch with her humans. She will follow her people around the house all day, happy to stop and
nap by them or receive belly rubs and snacks. She likes her crate and will settle down easily
with a bone or toy. She is eager to learn and please, enjoying short training sessions where she
can earn treats or excited affection.
Latisha’s favorite day would be spent snuggling on the sofa with her people, taking naps in
between chewing, taking a walk to explore her environment, and petting sessions. She will be
your steady companion in the kitchen. She enjoys her role as Chief Floor Inspector for the
Department of Dropped Food. In the evening, she would love a short walk or a bit of training
and just hanging out with her family.
Latisha would do well in a low energy home with no other dogs as other dogs make her nervous
and she has no interest in playing or interacting with other dogs. A quiet neighborhood or the
country where she can enjoy some time outdoors in a fenced yard exploring would be ideal.
Latisha’s has been gentle with older kids. However, she is a big girl and doesn’t always know
her own size and strength. She may climb over them or bump them in her hurry to go
somewhere, knocking them over or stepping on tender body parts.
A special note about puppy mill survivors: Puppy mill survivors often come with “baggage” that
needs to be unpacked which takes time. This baggage is fear – fear of loud noises, quick
movements, vehicles, stairs, even a fear of leashes, etc., The fears can be deep seated and
may not ever be completely overcome. Adopters of puppy mill survivors need to be gentle and
patient.
If your family would like to provide Latisha with the home she deserves, please complete the
adoption application at https://www.bullmastiffrescuers.net/forms.html
We require a donation ranging from $100 to $600 for each adoption. The donation is based on
the age and health of the dog being adopted as well as its level of training. 100% of donations
are directed to the veterinary expenses of the dogs in our care.
Latisha is being fostered in Maryland; however, don’t let location be a barrier, BRI can arrange
transport to many states east of the Mississippi!
