Senior Matilida was found by the side of the road, hyperthermic and suffering from multiple injuries after being hit by a car. One of her hind legs was so badly damaged that we weren’t sure she’d survive. She was not a good candidate for amputation, and the prospects for a recovery from a massive surgery were not promising. Thankfully her sweetness overrode our concerns and we moved forward. Remarkably, she came through it well and after spending a few days in her wheelchair, she started to toe touch. Her recovery has been frustratingly slow, but her foster mom lovingly cares for her with PT and laser treatments several times a day. She’s happy and loves her new life and doesn’t seem at all fazed by her condition. What an incredibly positive attitude this little girl has!
