Hi there! My name is Packer because I am a BIG boy who is built like a linebacker. Don’t let my name fool you, though. I’m really a Kansas City Chiefs fan, but I won’t hold it against you if you aren’t. My foster mom doesn’t even like football, but I still love her.
I’m told that when I first came into rescue I was a chunky monkey bowling ball with no manners. How rude! Can you believe that foster mom put me on a diet? I guess it worked, though, because my vet told me what a good boy I was when I weighed in at 137 lbs.
I am a smart boy, if I say so myself. I had never lived in a house before so I had a lot to learn. I worked really hard though, and now not only have I learned my manners and how to live in a house with my foster family, but I even know some basic commands. I know how to walk on a leash, and even know how to heel. I also know “sit”, “crate”, “bring”, “out”, “leave it”, “wait”, “easy”, “off”, and “no”. Phew! See? My foster mom says that she is very proud of me because I have learned a lot of things. I listen really well too. I used to be afraid of stairs because I had never seen any before, but now I go up and down them like a champ.
I like my crate. It makes me feel safe and gives me my very own place to hang out. My foster mom says that she and I get along great because we are both homebodies who prefer spending time with family rather than being out and about with strangers. In fact, my favorite pastime is hanging out at home with my foster sister. She’s ok, I guess – but don’t tell her I said that. I also liked hanging out with my foster brother who was even bigger than I am! He was pretty cool and chill. I liked that. I’m told that I like to take things slow and to be properly introduced to new doggie friends and people before making new friends. But please don’t make me be friends with cats! Yuck! I also like my two-legged foster siblings because they are teenagers who rarely bother me. They aren’t as noisy and rowdy as those pesky little ones.
I love my foster family, but I would LOVE to have a family or friend of my very own. Foster mom says that I just get sweeter every day (well, duh!) and that I am loyal and a great companion. She also says that I need someone with strong leadership skills and breed experience, whatever that is. Personally, I think I’m perfect just the way I am.
If you’d like to get to know me and even perhaps take me home with you as the best football buddy ever, have your people contact mine at https://www.bullmastiffrescuers.net/forms.html. There is an application form that you will need to fill out for them. Hey, it’s only fair! After all, I told YOU all about ME.
Oh, just one more thing! I am living in MO with my foster family, but don’t let that deter you from finding out more about me. My people (BRI) can arrange transport to many states east of the Mississippi! How cool is that?
