TJ is ready for her forever home and it is going to need to be a special one! We rescued TJ from a puppy mill situation. After producing puppies to line someone’s pocket for 5 years, she was headed to auction so some other miller could try and eke out a few more litters. But we rescued her and she has spent the last few months learning what it is like to be a loved and cherished household pet.
TJ is spayed and UTD on her vaccinations, microchipped and ready for someone to love her the rest of her life. She walks well on leash, is reliably potty trained, and crate trained. She is also the sweetest, calmest dog. Her nicknames are Sweet Baby and Precious Girl. TJ is low energy so all she needs is a short walk or leisure time in her fenced yard (a fenced yard is required for TJ) to keep her fit and do her business. Typically, mill survivors find other dogs calming but TJ is leery of other dogs. A local placement where we could arrange a meet and greet with a resident dog might be a possibility but more than likely we will place her as an only dog so she doesn’t have to worry about how other dogs might treat her.
TJ is slow to trust people but when she learns that she can trust you, it is like winning the lottery. She gives sweet little licks and nuzzles to show you she trusts you. When she slowly emerges from her crate or her bed area to seek your attention, you feel like a million bucks.
A special note about puppy mill survivors: Puppy mill survivors often come with “baggage” that needs to be unpacked which takes time. This baggage is fear – fear of loud noises, quick movements, vehicles, stairs, etc., The fears can be deep seated and may not ever be completely overcome. Adopters of puppy mill survivors need to be gentle and patient.
If your family would like to provide TJ with the home she deserves, please complete the adoption application at https://www.bullmastiffrescuers.net/forms.html
We require a donation ranging from $100 to $500 for each adoption. The donation is based on the age and health of the dog being adopted as well as its level of training. 100% of donations are directed to the veterinary expenses of the dogs in our care.
TJ is being fostered in Michigan; however, don’t let location be a barrier, BRI can arrange transport to many states east of the Mississippi!
