Wendy
This sweet, docile girl spent her life in a puppy mill, producing litter after litter despite her terrible condition. When she came to us in the summer, she was in awful shape, but she celebrated her 6th birthday on 8/29 happy and safe in foster care. She’s missing a toe, almost certainly because she caught it in her wire crate and it was left to heal on its own. She also suffered a painful eye injury that (again) went untreated and left her blind in that eye. We recently had it removed to make her more comfortable and have already seen a change in her - she’s more outgoing and inquisitive now that the painful eye is gone.
Wendy is sweet and engaging, and she shyly approaches, wagging her tail carefully, in the hope that she will get a pat or a kind word or maybe even a cookie! Give her that and she’s your friend forever. This little girl had never know the comfort of a soft bed, let alone a house or a couch! She was terrified of everything - a hair dryer or TV could send her into hiding for hours, but she’s past all of that now and waiting for a home to call her own. She LOVES the company of another dog and seeks reassurance and confidence from her housemates.
Wendy is a supreme snuggler and loves to ride in the car. She is still learning what’s hers and what isn’t, so she must be crated if left alone and watched carefully when you’re with her - she loves to chew and is especially fond of things like socks and other small, soft objects. She’s approaching her ideal weight now (she’s at 72 pounds and should be right between 75 and 80), healthy, housebroken and crate-trained, fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped - she’s a superstar at the vet and the staff adores her. The only thing she still needs is a home to call her own - her adoption fee is $300. Wendy comes with 30 days of free health insurance through PetPlan.
