CARTER
Carter is one of the happiest dogs you’ll meet. And quite the big cuddle puppy. He will skootch up as close as he can to be next to you. Carter is a quick learner and since he came to rescue he has learned sit, down, shake, and wait and loves doing all of them to make you happy. He LOVES fetch. He is particularly fond of sticks and will grab any stick he can find – even downed tree branches that are twice his size – and prance around with them like he is all that and a box of chocolates.
Carter plays well with other dogs and he takes correction well from his older foster sister when she has grown tired of his antics. He can let his excitement get the better of him sometimes though when he see people. He sometimes jumps up on them but it is all joy, love and friendly behavior – not a mean bone in his big, growing body. Speaking of growing, we think he is about two years old. He came to rescue very emaciated and he is putting on a good healthy weight. He has huge feet and lots of loose skin so we think he may grow even more.
Did we mention he likes to jump and play? Carter is so much fun to watch run around and play. He actually does back flips with joy. He is just a big goofball and a very sweet, wonderful disposition. And his tail never, ever stops wagging. We call him wigglebutt.
Carter still needs work on leash skills and not to jump but with a patient owner, he will learn and make an awesome companion. He is curious about cats and minds his foster mom when she stops him from getting too playful.
While BRI is a breed rescue group, at times we become aware of a dog in a shelter that appears to be a bullmastiff mix. Carter was facing euthanasia in a high kill shelter in Texas when he was brought to our attention. A volunteer immediately went to evaluate him and saw the sweet, playful boy he was and though we weren’t certain he was a bullmastiff, we simply could not leave this boy behind to die. We literally rescued him at the last minute. He might be bullmastiff mix, might be English mastiff mix, might even be boxer mix, but whatever he is, he is happy, loving and just wants to be everyone’s pal.
If you want to provide Carter the loving home he deserves, please completion an adoption application at http://www.bullmastiffrescuers.org/ under the Forms to Download section. Carter’s adoption fee is $200 and he is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped.
